If you haven’t heard of Vitamin C you must have been living in a cave!

Vitamin C is a household name when it comes to general well-being and immune support and I believe it plays an important role in a successful recovery from an MRSA infection.

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient for both humans and animals alike.

Most animals produce their own Vitamin C however there are a few exceptions and unfortunately, humans are one of those exceptions.

As such, we have to get our Vitamin C from our diet.

As Vitamin C can’t be stored within the body, it needs to make a regular appearance in our meals.

To do this we need to choose items that are high in Vitamin C such as Blackcurrants, Parsley, Chilli Peppers, and Broccoli.

If we do not ingest and subsequently absorb a sufficient amount of Vitamin C various issues can arise including lowered immune function, a reduction in collagen production, and disease such as scurvy.

What’s so good about it?

Vitamin C is required for multiple bodily functions including Collagen production.

It is also a well known antioxidant meaning that it helps to remove the free radicals from the body that damage healthy tissues and cause disease.

It is also known to actively support the immune system, helps with wound healing, and aids in iron absorption.

Is it safe and are there any side effects?

Vitamin C is considered non-toxic, safe, and there are no known side effects.

Although usually ingested orally in capsule form, Vitamin C can be administered intravenously.

Vitamin C taken orally is absorbed by the body however some studies have shown that as the dosage increases, the absorbency rate decreases.

Also, when taken orally in high doses it can cause stomach problems such as diarrhea.

If you supplement with a quality capsule product, remember, your body can only absorb about 500mg of Vitamin C taken orally.

As such, you don’t need to spend extra money getting 1000mg+ capsules…just get 500mg Vitamin C capsules.

Just for your info, higher doses of Vitamin C can be administered by IV and have been proven to be highly effective in treating MRSA sufferers.

How is effective against MRSA?

Vitamin C has been proven to be most effective against MRSA when administered by way of IV.

As this is not always an option, you may be asking…why should I bother with the capsules?

From personal experience, I know that supplementing with Vitamin C capsules helps to strengthen the immune system.

Because you need a fully functioning, and strong immune system to fully recover from an MRSA infection, it is imperative that you increase the strength of your immune system and reduce your immune systems recovery time.

Vitamin C will do this.

Where can you get Vitamin C?

Most health stores will offer several brands of Vitamin C, most often in capsule form.

As with most supplements, you can purchase it online from places such as Amazon, and often at a cheaper price.

If you live outside the US, you will just want to make sure that the seller offers International shipping.

Buyer beware though…not all Vitamin C capsules are made equal.

There are brands out there that “talk up” Vitamin C and tell you that you need 1000mg or more.

This is rubbish because your body can only absorb about 500mg of Vitamin C taken orally.

As mentioned before, as the dosage increases, the absorption decreases so don’t waste your money on these products. A bottle of 500mg capsules will do the job!

Do I recommend supplementing with Vitamin C?

Absolutely because it has so many other health benefits in addition to being effective against MRSA.

I now take Vitamin C daily and would not leave home without it.
